Tenants Rights & Associations
Organizing neighbor-to-neighbor
In 2022, GES Coalition expanded its organizing efforts beyond homeownership to include tenant organizing in response to growing issues of displacement and uninhabitable living conditions in Denver. This shift aimed to build the collective power of renters and ensure that all residents—not just homeowners—have a voice in shaping the future of their neighborhoods.
Organizing for Tenant Power
While GES Coalition’s tenant organizing began with a focus on addressing poor housing conditions at specific properties, the work has grown into a broader movement for tenant rights and protections across the city. The Coalition currently supports two tenant associations—the Longview Mobile Home Tenants Association and the Vina Tenant Association—while also co-founding the Tenant Power Assembly (TPA), a citywide coalition of tenant-led groups advancing housing justice at both the municipal and state levels.
